Elizabeth Bohan Show Stock Montadale Dispersal Online Sale - California
Thank you for taking the time to look through the sale! My name is Liz Bohan, and I have been raising Montadales since the fall of 2000 when I bought my first pair from the Jacobsen Ranch for my FFA project (that never ended!). Since then, I have worked to build functional, more slick sheared style Montadales. I took a little break from breeding in 2010-2012 for nursing school and then was right back at it. As a nurse working in two different hospitals for the last couple years, my life has gotten pretty busy and I can’t get time off to show like I want to. I decided to disperse the Montadales in hopes that their genetics could continue on and be put to their full potential by people who can get out and show. Previously I have only offered up 1 ewe publicly at the fall Elite in 2018. I skimmed down the last year to only ewes that had my best genetic lines and were known producers to ease lambing this year. There are only a handful of lambs I kept this year before deciding to disperse, with most being later lambs. With a family emergency popping up time wasn’t on my side. The older lambs didn’t get fitted and the young ones were just weaned- I decided to hold them back until they can show their potential out of their baby wool. Montadales have always been my passion since the first time I saw one at my county fair and talked Richard Jacobsen’s ear off (I still haven’t stopped talking 22 years later) and I am so thankful for the help and kindness the Montadale family has shown me. A special thank you to the Jacobsen family- I wouldn’t have been able to raise them all these years if it wasn’t for their generosity- from rams and fitting lessons to a place to keep them right out of nursing school. I am forever grateful.
